Beer Pet Peeves

Beer Pet Peeves

If you know me, you know I don’t like to hold my tongue about the things that bug me. I think this month we should do a little complaining. That’s right complaining. I want to talk about my beer pet peeves. We all have some whether we want to admit it or not. Well, I’ll admit it.

  • Probably my biggest pet peeve is when you buy beer at the store and they put it in a bag. It’s a six pack! It comes in its own carrying container. That’s the great thing about this industry, no extra packaging needed.
  • On to others, chilled glasses at bars. What's up? The beer is cold enough coming out of the tap or fridge. Don’t make it so cold I can’t taste it.
  • What about drinking from the bottle when there is a fine pint glass available to you? How the hell are you going to smell the beer from the bottle?
  • Over cellaring?!?! Beer was meant to be drank - not held on to for years and years.
  • Big beers in big bottles. I’m not talking 8%. I’m talking REALLY big beers, barley wines and such. I don’t want that much and I don’t drink with that many friends around.
  • Barrel aged sounds good, but wait, does it taste like beer or booze? Answer depends whether it should be on this list.
  • Hey, I’m paying good money for you to fill up my growler, put some co2 in there first so it doesn't get oxidized. Thanks.
  • IBU’s on bottles. This is a random number only relevant to that particular beer not others.
  • So you go into a beer bar and domestics are on sale from 5-6, but not craft beers? What's more domestic than the brewery down the street?
  • Finally when I’m out hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, backpacking, skiing or whatever in the outdoors - I hate finding beer cans and bottles. Hate it! I love that beer after the exercise more than anyone, but pack it in pack it out people.

Well I am glad I got that off my chest. Thanks for listening to my bitchin’. Listen to me now, hear me later.

Cheers!
