Visiting the Heber Valley

Visiting the Heber Valley

We all like to get out of town, catch a good meal at a new restaurant, and drink a few beers, right?!?!

For me a Stay-cation is perfect. A weekend get-away, without the planning and headache. If you are like me, and this punches your ticket - then I have the perfect recommendation.

Sure there is Park City, or Moab, or St. George, but these are all typical destinations, seasonally they are expensive, and well, you have done them before. So how about visiting the Heber Valley?

Heber Valley?!?!? - you say, yeah, the Heber Valley.

I have recently had the pleasure of visiting a few fine establishments in Heber City, and Midway that really are nice little towns, old fashioned Main streets, vibrant social life, and great little hotels to stay in.

The Corner, Midway Mercantile, Dairy Farm, Ice Sculptures

I will start in Midway Utah, an easy 30 minute drive from Salt Lake, this is a small town on the back slope of the Wasatch range, that is developing quite the culture. There are a ton of things to do there as a family or couple or group of friends.

Here are just a few:
Take a swim in the Crater  This is such a cool experience, dipping in the dead of winter on the inside of a rock, where it is well over 100 feet deep, and the water is a perfect temperature.

Check out the Ice Castles. These are man-made ice castles and mazes that are so much fun to explore and see, unlike anything you have experienced before.

OK, now your getting hungry - and more than anything, your thirsty!

Midway Mercantile is a newly refinished restaurant. Offering fine dining, and a great bar. Not to mention you can catch a pint of RoHa at the bar. The crew there is sure to take care of you, and make your night memorable.

The newest spot in Midway is on the one corner of the town (if you know Midway, you know what I mean), this is called The Corner Restaurant. An incredible new building built on a great lot. The new construction is beautiful with space that flows easily from indoors to outdoors. Service at the wrapped bar is amazing, and again, they are featuring a handful of RoHa beers on draft and in cans.

If you don’t want to venture as far as Midway - you can find great spots right on Main Street Heber City.

My first stop would be Melvin’s Public House. This is a newly renovated bar, good for all ages, a beer or two and watching the game.

But for fine cuisine, jump around the corner to Main Street Social Club. This tiny house has been so many different things, but it has amazing indoor space, and an even better patio for the summer. The owners both come from fine food backgrounds out of Park City - and just wanted to do their own thing. These great folks also feature a couple of RoHa Beers to satisfy your drinking needs.

So thats a wrap - I would encourage you to do twenty minutes of research, find a great spot to stay and follow my lead to one of these fine establishments for food and drink! You will only be 30 minutes out of Salt Lake, and feel like you are in a different world.

Cheers, Ro
